“Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
We welcome your desire to have your child baptized into the Holy Catholic Church and the community of the Parish of Saints Joachim and Anne. Since the earliest days of the Catholic Church, Baptism has been the rite of initiation into the Christian community. Through the working of the Holy Spirit, Baptism makes us members of the Body of Christ and of one another. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1267)
Because the Sacrament of Baptism joins individuals into the communal church, you must be an active, registered parishioner to have a child baptized within our parish. Registration as a member of our faith community signifies your commitment to practicing the Catholic faith with us. This includes frequent attendance at Sunday Mass, receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis, contributing to the parish community through time, talent and treasure, and living out the other basics of the Catholic faith.
In bringing your child to be baptized, you are saying that you intend to share your living Catholic, Christian faith with your child. It is a serious commitment to raise a child within the community of believers and to educate him or her in the truths of the Catholic faith. The baptism of your child may also provide an opportunity to reflect upon and renew your own Christian faith.
If you are a relative of a registered parishioner of our parish, we would be happy to discuss your request to have your child baptized here. Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, we welcome you and your children to walk with us in the footsteps of Christ.
Baptisms in our parish are communal celebrations which occur during or after one of our regularly scheduled Mass times at each of our three church locations. Please call the parish office to schedule your child’s baptism. We typically do not hold baptisms during the season of Lent.
The Church, the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, and our parish have specific rules for receiving the Sacrament of Baptism. For a complete overview of preparing for Baptism in our parish, click here.
